Celestine: the best Character in the game?

All of those TLA's (Three Letter Acronyms) were just for you Keaveney. Well they might not look very Ecclesiarchy-y but it's what I'm going for: using Chaos models (all lovely and plastic) as opposed to the expensive (and metal or Finecast?) Sisters models that costs €50+ for a unit of 10 while they pump out those 10 CSM & Rhino boxes for €45 sounds like a plan.

Here's a few pics of what I've been up to for the past few weeks at any rate in getting my army off the ground. I spray them black and then give them a dusting of white paint because it creates an easy way to spot how natural shading and highlighting should work, which will look lovely until I obliterate it all with pink and black. Here's another shot of her.

There are a few tanks lying around already completed but I have to give one of my Rhinos a redo as it is way too red for my liking thanks to slathering on the Baal Red. Which now needs to be replaced.

New Paint Sets have DA in them

As you can see from the picture on the left there is going to be an updated basic paint set released, probably to coincide with the 145 new paints that GW are bringing out.

While the Fantasy box has HE Sea Guard in it, the 40k box has Dark Angel green marines featured on the front of the box. I'm going to read too much into it but I find it interesting that they'd move away from Ultramarines in favour of the dress-wearing pansies.

However, with DA and Chaos rumoured to be in the 6th ed box due out later this year, it does give stronger credence to those rumours. Although I must say that I'm surprised that it isn't Chaos Marines that they've chosen to put in the box with the alleged push to set them up as the new poster boys.

Make of it what you will. Pinches of salt and all that. Afaik, there'll be less blurry pics out on Saturday.

Raven Guard Land Raiders

A Pre-Heresy Land Raider.

I've been chewing through various lists in the last few weeks and one that I looked at was Raven Guard. You know the one: Shrike & a big blob of Fleeting, Infiltrating Terminators with lots of fire support to buy time for them to get into position.

It just so happens that the LGS worker drone has a big Raven Guard collection and he asked me to smarten up some stuff that needed updating (streaky white mostly). I was lucky in that most of the work was done already: much like the outcome of any conversation with our local TEMPLARS player, I'd have fallen asleep if I had to paint that much black repeatedly.

ETC Painting

I was lucky enough to be able to sneak off between rounds to take snaps of other player's armies and to have a gawk at the painting competition that was taking place upstairs.

It wasn't just GW but there was plenty of other categories (WW2, vehicles etc.) but the main things that grabbed my attention were the GW, Fantasy and sci-fi.

I found some funky stuff like the Laughing God on the right, although I reckon the guy with the freehand faces on his cloak was the best entry at the show. It was between the Dreadknight and the Laughing God for the front page here but I just like the colours on this guy and he also reminds me of Collodi from Malifaux.

The Lazy Man's Guide to Painting Space Wolves

There's always something to do the night before a tourney...

I've got pictures of Warpcon to upload and a report to type up so before that gets done I'll add something to fill the void. Seeing as I finally had a fully painted and based army I figured I'd show how I went about it.

I'll say straight away this probably won't win you any prizes for best-painted army, but it is something that you can churn out relatively quickly with little more than paints straight from the pot and water. I couldn't be bothered with the fancier techniques used by people like LeGeneral with his Eldar and Blood Angels.

No, no: I'm far more a gamer than a painter and I'd rather get my stuff finished for use on the tabletop quickly.

I was in Jakarta a few months back and I managed to drop by a shop there called Fantasy N Games. Well, two shops actually: both the one on the 2nd floor in the Pondok Indah Shopping Centre in Jakarta Barat (West Jakarta) and Taman Anggrek in Jakarta Selatan (South).

It was in the latter that I picked up Njal Stormcaller (the same price as here which is a couple of week's wages for most people over there o_0) and I managed to take some piccies of some stuff in the shop cabinet.
