Stormy's A.S.S.: Rules Questions

One of  Dan Abnett's best.
It's been a while since I'd done one of these but a few things have arisen in 6th edition that have piqued my interest with odd rules interpretations, despite GW's best attempts to cock-block silly combos through the use of Allies.

One of these is how Victory Points for Lone Wolves after the latest Space Wolf FAQ. On page 2 it says:

Page 29 – Lone Wolves, A Glorious Death.
Replace the last two sentences with: “Furthermore, in missions that award Victory Points for each enemy unit that has been completely destroyed, a Lone Wolf does not concede a Victory Point if he dies in battle. Instead, to represent his failure to meet a spectacular end, a Lone Wolf awards a Victory Point in such a mission if he survives until the end of the game!”

So the thing I'm wondering is if the Lone Wolf is the first unit killed in a game does he deny the enemy a Victory Point for First Blood?

B&W Pics of SoB WIP

Celestine: the best Character in the game?
All of those TLA's (Three Letter Acronyms) were just for you Keaveney. Well they might not look very Ecclesiarchy-y but it's what I'm going for: using Chaos models (all lovely and plastic) as opposed to the expensive (and metal or Finecast?) Sisters models that costs €50+ for a unit of 10 while they pump out those 10 CSM & Rhino boxes for €45 sounds like a plan.

Here's a few pics of what I've been up to for the past few weeks at any rate in getting my army off the ground. I spray them black and then give them a dusting of white paint because it creates an easy way to spot how natural shading and highlighting should work, which will look lovely until I obliterate it all with pink and black. Here's another shot of her.

There are a few tanks lying around already completed but I have to give one of my Rhinos a redo as it is way too red for my liking thanks to slathering on the Baal Red. Which now needs to be replaced.

One Year On

Even I'm unimpressed with my once-a-month posting in the recent past. Thankfully I've been busy gaming instead of talking/theorising about games. In another day or two I should be comfortable with the Finnish lists that I'd expect to face at the ETC (now 2 and 1/2 weeks away) before I move onto the other team's lists.

To let my brain relax from the demanding 40k, I've really got stuck into Malifaux, running with Zoraida as my Master. She's hard to get the hang of but I've tried out Ol' Saddlebags with a variety of crews before I got my hands on Collodi and co. (on the right) and added them into the mix. I didn't rate him when I first ran him but having seen how much damage his Marionettes can do when using Puppet Show and Breathe Life and having Paired Talons with a Slow Trigger on Crows, I've since revised my opinion. Throw enough mud at a wall and some of it is bound to stick. It worked on David Norris.

6 Nations Round 3: Scotland

I assume the Scots retired early to practice bagpipes.
So with an early nights sleep due to the lack of drink on Good Friday we expected the Scots to be well refreshed and ready for our games i.e. not hungover.

So it was that I was put up against Pete and his very fancy newly-airbrushed Dark Eldar. With all the floating gunboats I figured that I'd have to hide most of my army before getting stuck in over the last few turns rather than deploying stuff and getting blown away very quickly.

ETC 6 Nations Day 1

Alright lads, I meant to have this updated regularly but we can't use the computer during the day because its used for results and they're afraid of crashing or something.

Bag of dicks.

Tourney Report: Retcon 2011 Day 1

Having to start playing games at 10am in the Pale meant that I had to get up at 4am to catch the 5am train to make it up on time. It was always going to be a rocky road to Dublin with that kind of early start. The field up there was going to be top-notch with 18 of the top 25 players on Rankings (I don't like how its scored but we're using that to select the ETC team this year so I'm going along with it) registered to attend. There were a few that couldn't make it but it was still a tough field.

A few of the lads were worried that things would be really tense with this being the arbiter of who would get an invite to the ETC team, especially in the latter rounds, but I found it was quite laid-back which is always nice to see. Especially as I was running a new list and was bound to forget stuff/get it wrong. With Courage Wolf's advice ringing in my ears I got to work.

Itzacon Game 1

The new Dark Eldar: Mr. Bean approves.
So I went off to Itzacon in NUIG with a group of the lads with a somewhat experimental list. I wanted to see if Lone Wolves could be made to work and Njal came along for the ride to see what he could do. I was certain to play some of the better people on the circuit as we all made a mad dash for Ranking points at one of the last events of the season. There were 26 of us signed up in the end.

My first game came up against Alec from the Warheads with his Dark Eldar. I had played him already at Conclave in Limerick but that was with the old army and his new list would no doubt prove to be more deadly.

And now, for something completely Dark Eld-I mean different...

I am Dark Eldar - I feel no pain!
While I'm waiting for the immersion to heat up (its an Irish thing) and I'm still chopping and changing my Gaelcon and Conclave Batreps (so many pics...) I've been thinking about the nouveau Dark Eldar and what I can do with them. Or more accurately, what I can do with other people's models while I'm painting up the Wolves to 3 colours, based *and* highlighted.

I have a few ideas I'd like to try out apart from the obvious Raiderspam: I'd like to see if Footdar can work with a horde of FNP things running at you shielding a guy with a Webway Portal before the Reserves arrive.
